About University of Gold Coast

The University of Gold Coast (UGC) is a prestigious Christian university accredited to offer a wide range of globally recognized postgraduate, undergraduate, and professional programs. UGC provides a Christ-centered scholarly environment that seamlessly integrates faith and learning, empowering students to excel academically and lead with integrity.

Established in 2004 by Bishop Gideon and Lady Olivia Titi-Ofei, the university began as a training institution and has undergone a transformative journey, reflected in its various name designations. Initially founded as the African Centre for Leadership and Human Resource Development (AFRILEAD), it focused on delivering quality, affordable short-term training for busy professionals. In 2010, it evolved into the Graduate School of Governance and Leadership, marking its expansion into undergraduate education. Over the years, it grew into a prominent higher education institution widely recognized as Accra Business School (ABS), emphasizing its specialization in business and leadership education.

Now, as the University of Gold Coast, the institution continues its legacy of excellence, offering a broader range of academic programs, championing innovation, and maintaining a strong focus on global relevance. On December 19, 2024, UGC achieved a significant milestone, receiving the Presidential Charter, further solidifying its status as an autonomous degree-granting institution in Ghana.

With less than two decades of service, UGC has distinguished itself as one of Ghana’s most successful private higher education providers, earning a stellar reputation both locally and internationally.
